Grooming
Grooming a Scottie for show is a long, slow process. You begin when your Scottie is a puppy. Between 8 and 12 weeks, you will need to hand strip his coat and furnishing. This way the coat that grows back in will be hard and wiry. Once the coat is back in you will need to regularly roll the coat and strip out a lot of the undercoat.
Pet grooming your Scottie is much easier. You basically clip the areas of a Scottie that would be stripped in a show coat.
A good web site to help you pet groom your Scottie is: http://home.earthlink.net/~jacglen/groom.html
If you live in or near Cookeville Tennessee, I would be glad to either groom your Scottie or other breed dog, or help you learn to groom him yourself. I am a small, home based groomer with a selective clientele. I limit the number of dogs I groom each day so that I can spend all the time necessary to groom your beloved pet. I never use sedatives or strong arm methods to groom your dog; they will be treated with the love and respect that they deserve. If your dog is a young puppy, I will want to take extra time and give lots of breaks in between grooming sessions. Just give me a call to set up an appointment, 931-858-4790 or 931-260-8796.
